Of the few people who are familiar with the word Solar Plexus, most imagine a yellow luminous ball(Chakra) at the abdomen of our body when they hear it, with some magical connections of it with our body, mind and spirituality. Though they are not wrong, the fact which makes it less believable is the mystic approach of explanation.
Ancient Indian medics referred it to the inactive Naval gland at the surface level(So it's also called Nabhi Chakra), but with deeper understanding we can decipher that they were more interested in the cluster of nerve ganglia called Celiac plexus that radiates nerves throughout the abdomen and also supplies to the naval.
Placed at the abdomen, this nerve plexus bears ample medical significance to our body which are properly described only in the theories of Ayurveda and Acupressure. A disturb in the solar plexus is described by its shifting in the abdomen and very often leads to painful outcomes which cannot be cured by drugs. Only neural medicines may subside the pain temporarily. And if this disturbance is not taken care of, any other treatment may not be fully functional in our body. That's why it is advisable that for any complaint regarding pain and before giving any treatment, position of solar plexus is to be checked first and corrected accordingly.
Methods of checking solar plexus:
1. Lie flat on back in an empty stomach, look for a throbbing pulse anywhere near the naval. If it's inside the naval then plexus is ok but if found anywhere up or downwards the naval it means plexus is shifted up or down.
2. Lie flat on back with straight hands by side. Join the foots with toes upright. If the two big toes are not in level, the plexus is not in order.
3.Join the two palms as shown. Match line number 1s or heart lines. If line number 4s in little fingers do not match, there is a disturbance in the plexus.
Methods of correcting the solar plexus:
These methods are to be applied on an empty stomach i.e. after 3 to 4 hours of meals at least.
1. Push the throbbing towards the naval centre by finger or putting weight.
2. Grapple the two big toes together. Put pressure on the knee of the shorter toe side. Try to pull the shorter toe back to level. Repeat the method 3 to 4 times.
3. Vacuum cup the naval preferably by candle for a minute. Repeat 3 to 4 times.
4. Try 90° leg raise without pillow and bring the legs down straight as slowly as possible. Repeat 5 to six times.
5. Lie down on back. Exhale, hold breath and inflate stomach. Keep this position as long as possible then inhale. Repeat.
6. Press the reflexology points for solar plexus intermittently for one minute on both sides of palm or foot, then repeat.
7. Keep the right palm locked in the left elbow tightly, then with a jerk bring up the left fist with an open thumb to try to touch the left shoulder. Repeat 5 times, then alter the hands. This method is so handy that it can be practised every morning without worrying about the order of the solar plexus.
In case of frequent shifting of solar plexus:
Due to severe gas troubles, weakness of the intestines or lifting of heavy articles sometimes there is a frequent shifting of solar plexus, even on daily basis. In such cases take two small jute strings or something similar, tie 8 to 9 rounds of these threads around the base of both big toes then tie knots(not very tight). Unless there is unbearable pain keep it for 3 days and then remove it.
Plexus will get fixed, then check it on every alternate day afterwards. Such patients should follow a light food diet containing fruit juice and green juice, do some exercises to strengthen intestines, check for worms in the intestines and remove them.
Solar plexus is like the main spring of our body. It controls all the organs bellow diaphragm and organs near above diaphragm. An upshift of the plexus leads to constipation and a downshift to loose motion. Unchecked for long, a disturbed solar plexus damages the intestines severely even leading to Cancer.
